Kalam rides the ICBMs on wind and fire
The Indian Missiles site is dedicated to Dr. Avul Pakir
Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, father of India's Integrated Guided Missile Development Program. It was the brilliant Dr. Kalam who breathed life into ballistic missiles like Agni and Prithvi, which put China and Pakistan well under India's missile range. Here is a poem written by him;

"Dreams float on an impatient wind, A wind that wants to create a new order, An order of strength and thundering of fire."

Rocket Attack on U.S. And U.N. Offices in Pakistan Fails

By STEVE LEVINE

Several rockets were fired at American diplomatic and U.N. buildings in Islamabad in an apparently coordinated attack, but they missed their targets. The timing of the attack raised suspicions that the Taliban may have been involved.

Doubts over Clinton visit to South Asia, because of pakistan
hinduonline.com
JPR's note: Bill Clinton is probably better off not going to South Asia. Just like the Greeks, pakistanis don't like Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton's demand to a return to democracy as a precondition for a visit to Pakistan is not realistic in the time frame suggested for the South Asia visit. With the bombings and everything in pakistan, it is better he calls off the visit to South Asia.
Pakistanis don't like US Govt's advice to the military not to overthrow the the elected Govt of Nawaz. Military is in charge of the country and captured the minds of pakistanis. Most pakistanis want good Govt even if that requirement is met by the military. Clinton's exclusion of Pakistan for any reason from his itinerary in South Asia and an inclusion of INDIA will not be taken kindly and not be forgotten. Pakistan is in a state of hurt pride and wounded self-respect. Causes are
Kargil Fiasco
US Govt warning on military takeover
Suspension of Democracy
Miliary takeover
Economic deprivation
Pervasive Corruption from Top to Bottom
Relative prosperity of India
Indian Democratic ideals even under trying circumstances.
Indian military under civilian control
Unresolved Kashmir issue
This condition will aggravate, if Clinton visits India and and not Pakistan. That will be an added insult. Insult is something Pakistanis can't & won't brook; they are brought up on an honor code both on personal and public fronts.

Now the Excerpt from HINDU newspaper.
WASHINGTON, NOV. 13. For the first time in some months now, White House officials cast serious doubts on whether the President, Mr. Bill Clinton, will visit South Asia.

At a press briefing, the National Security Adviser, Mr. Sandy Berger, was cagey. Questions whether it was possible for Mr. Clinton to go only to India in view of
the coup in Pakistan, and in the face of warning by Gen. Musharraf's special envoy, Mr. Yaqub Khan, against dropping Islamabad from the itinerary elicited nothing much.

The White House Press Secretary, Mr. Joe Lockhart, was more forthcoming, saying, ``The President has indicated that he would like to travel to south Asia.
But there are things that need to happen before a trip like that would become viable. And when the conditions are ready, we will let you know.'
