Good question. It depends if his position is a proactive one.

My opinion: if its the latter, he'll bring in the ppercentage of Dems needed to tip the scale. Its his right flank that McCain has to worry about if he's not rabid about the issue.

And then there's Buchanan. Its Buchanan, not junior , who may force him to take a more visible position on the issue---something I suspect McCain feels should not be a political issue but rather a private one.
