Well Razor, I re-read Shumway's paper to see if I could distill his findings into a formula. Alas, too many years have passed since I studied statistics and I am unable to offer further insights. However, I am intrigued by some of Shumaway's findings and hope to investigate this further. Of particular interest is the statement that the only statistically significant ratios in Altman's model are EBIT/TA and ME/TL.

For now, I leave further comment to the academics.
