Chaz; I think CompactFlash switching costs are OK, for a consumer product. I'm thinking manufacturer here, plugging any make memory into the slot.

Does SanDisk collect royalties? Or just count on superior teck.

Obviously a huge market, I just don't understand Sandisks business model.

Thanks
Doug

To Anyone,

Why is there so little discussion on this thread concerning the multi-level cell and Sandisk's superior IP in this area? Eli's move to the MMC format has/will effectively close the door to mechanical drives and it is my opinion that his intelligent cell vision will close the door on all competing non-volatile memory technologies.

The biggest recent news IMO was the DD write-speed enhancement and the multi-level cell IP acquisition. I am somewhat puzzled at the amount of discussion or lack thereof that these events have received. My sense is that Eli has a telescope on his desk as well as microscope.

Regards
Stew
