I have not owned CSCO as yet but I will soon. I have a CD coming due soon and instead of renewing I'm gonna try a little CSCO for a change. I believe it will do okay as will LUCENT. I see nothing wrong with having a little bit of it in my portfolio even if I am a retired LUCENT employee.

As for my gut prediction, that's all it was. I was just trying to extrapolate the chart and it looked like 73 or thereabouts was where it would be when Friday ended, that's all! Can't lay claims to being any kind of a genius for a prediction like that can I?

I'd like to see less volatility in LU but I doubt if I'll get my wish. I'm not a broker, a day trader, or a professional investor. I'm just a guy who comes in here to read the comments and see what I can learn.

Some of you are working very hard to keep abreast of what is going on in the business. Some of you are very knowledgeable and I would be the first to admit that I am not. I hope everyone will continue to share whatever facts or fictions they find out about LUCENT or the competition. The market perplexes me most of the time.

When I see these new IPO's going sky high I can only say to myself that there is sure a lot of gambling going on...sort of like the roll of the dice...hoping for big hits and staying as long as one can...then hoping to get some kind of clue to take the money and run!
