jmac - Re: "It's only purpose in life to date has been to cut into Intel's profits. "

That's funny !

Yesterday, during the DOWNDRAFT in Intel's stock after the Joe Osha downgrade, a fund manager by the name if Ogden (I believe) was on CNBC answering phone-in questions from viewers and some caller asked about AMD.

Ogden's response was much like yours - he said (and I'm trying to remember his exact words) "AMD has proven that they can't make money but the one thing they can do is make life utterly miserable for Intel" !!!

I know Intel isn't stupid. I believe AMD is. This company has lost so much money it isn't funny. It's only purpose in life to date has been to cut into Intel's profits.

That's exactly right. AMD and the AMDroids are on a Holy War to cut Intel's profits. They see no problem with selling at a loss to do so. When the company, through quirks in fortune and timing (and Flash covering for the never-profitable CPU), manages to break even or turn a profit for a quarter or two before the next collapse, why that's just gravy. And probably a new limo and million dollar bonus for Jerry.

Check out the Linux thread for another example of Holy Warriors. All they want to talk about in response to anything at all about Microsoft is how much profit they can take away from them.
