Some late night thoughts on NDS on Win2000

I'm not really talking about the idea of selling Netware by giving away NDS on NT. I'm actually talking about taking on whatever directory capabilities exist in Win2000 and selling NDS as a better directory system on NT.

If that is a crazy way of looking at it then fine, but it seems to me Microsoft has a history of being attacked successfully by companies that did whatever Microsoft did one better. I'm thinking in particular of Norton Utilities which still sells quite well.

Now I understand we are in the network world not the PC world and some things do not apply but clearly Novell has the only directory solution for multiple OS platforms. That strength can be reinforced by pricing strategies so that a Novell NDS that runs on WIn2000 appears to be that something extra that it is worth investing in for those enterprise that are not all NT.

Correct me please.
