You can't doubt it all you want. It's fact. I don't know how far back it started by I know AMD started it with K6-2s and a MSI mobo and then Intel followed with Pentium IIs and a mobo...now AMDs back at it.
Actually it's good advertising as most people are led to a machine by a sales person at these stores.
