Q, is an extremely unusual situation.

Covered Call writing for Incomes on other somewhat stable stocks is a different game that is suitable for certain individuals.

One should NEVER sell calls on stocks on a sustained upward move. It'd be like selling prime ribs as hamburger ground.
And it'd be extremely ill-advised, to say the least, especially on stocks like Q*.


No one could have said it better.

The basic principle of selling call is that one's outlook for the stock is neutral to bearish. Some suggest to sell OTM call with strike price higher than what it would be at expiry. Wish that we have a crystal ball.

Taxes should never be a consideration. The more money you make the more you pay taxes. In America taxes is only a fraction of profit. I will be happy to pay more and more taxes resulting from more and more profit.
