Even George Paterno on the after game radio show mentioned that Joe and his staff must reevaluate what they are doing with the talent they do have and also stated that Joe may have to change some of his philosophies in order to reestablish a NC caliber team. This team was obviously never a great one.

Michigan took advantage of a weakness in the D several times by lining up a receiver in the slot. Every time, the PSU defense covered that man with Derek Fox. Every time, he could not cover the slot receiver one on one. Why was no adjustment made to give him some help??

Aggressiveness seems to be lacking in the play calling on both sides of the ball. This may reflect the attitude of the head coach, the mellowing perhaps a sign of age. However, the QBs are marginal at best, the OL and running backs are not up to usual PSU caliber. The defense is better than average, but the depth has not been developed (hence the late game collapse yesterday). If the coaching staff knows all of these weaknesses, it must limit the types of plays that they will call?????

OL is it the coaching, recruiting, talent level??? It may be the recruiting and talent level, vis a vis the walk on freshman Iorio starting at center.

Yesterday was a bit of a continuation from the previous week. Two early turnovers by the offense gives Michigan 10 points. Plenty of mental errors on both sides of the ball all game long. To their credit they did fight back. Mental error by Harris (late getting over to cover the blitzing safety or Lb) allows Thompson to get blindsided, ending all hopes.

Kind of glad I did not make the trip. Remember the ALAMO??????
