Intel has been my largest winner over the past 4 years....I rest my case, your honor! ...When you buy Intel you buy management and leadership and Grove and Barrett have few peers.

dont second quess Merril Lynch.

So what do you read into the fact that AMD is rated 3-3 at ML which means that a ML broker cannot solicit a purchase in AMD without asking for a mgmt waiver. Maybe ML will upgrade AMD at Thanksgiving like they did last year.

BTW, ML ratings are indicators of expected appreciation potential. Based on ML's $90 price target, INTC should be upgraded back to Buy below $75.

I might second guess these ML price targets: AMAT $90, QCOM $270, SWCM $60, SNDK $58.

LB,

Re. , and dont second quess Merril Lynch.

Oh no? But I attributed to much of my investment success to, precisely, "second-guessing" Merrill Lynch.

Not only that, I fired my ML broker a few years ago.

re:'dont second quess Merril Lynch.'

ROFLMAO - They had an analyst on Intel for years who was the laughing stock of the street. He told people to sell - that's SELL - Intel when it was around 50. Then when it went up to about 75 he told them to buy - that's BUY. He was roundly ridiculed for this on Wall Street Week with Louis Rukeyser about 3 years ago (I think that was 2 splits back). ML is another broker, bigger but not necessarily any better than any other. They can swing a lot of weight short term, but remember that in the short term the market is a voting machine - in the long term the market is a weighing machine. ML can push a lot of votes in a hurry, so they can cause fluctuations. If an analyst makes sense and has a good track record, by all means use that advice. If an analyst has a spotty or poor record - and a startling number do - do some very strong due diligence and independent research before committing your hard earned money. But never bow down before any analyst. They all have batting averages well short of 1000. Many are horrifyingly short of 500.

Good investing - By the way I stole the voting/weighing remark from Benjamin Graham, the dean of modern investment analysis and the teacher of Warren Buffet.
