Indeed the stock my go "ballistic". This is not what Mehrdad has been arguing. I think the argument has been that COMS is going to go ballistic...and COMS has yet to prove itself.

I have been following Mehrdad's position on 3Com for a couple of months now and I have been understanding Mehrad's posts in the common sense that the price of the stock will go ballistic. Maybe we should ask Mehrdad what he has been trying to convey since there is some confusion here.

I continue to agree with the opinion that COMS is undervalued. I continue to disagree that COMS as a company will be a tier one player in the communications industy and that they will continue to play "also-ran" status.

Does anyone really think that COMS needs to "be a tier one player in the communications industry" in order for COMS to provide superior returns for many years to come?

Yes, I understand how margins are squeezed when volume is low etc., but the communications industries is poised on the brink of an expansion that will put dwarf the PC and software boom. All 3Com needs to be wildly successful is a niche that they dominate. They have a good start with their IWF market and appear to be building valuable relationships with industry leaders. Coupled with the exposure and the value that will be realized with the Palm spin-off, this is a company that is very easy to bet on. We can revisit COMS positioning in the booming wireless data (and packetized voice) market as time goes on.

Those who bail early will miss the steepest and most profitable portion of this run-up.
