Ten,
RE:""Absolute fact" if you discount the fact that Intel's Celeron has been regaining the marketshare originally lost to AMD K6-2. "Absolute fact" if you discount the fact that Intel has been responding very well to competitive pressure from Athlon with the new Pentium III (Coppermine) core. "Absolute fact" if if you ignore Intel's upcoming Merced and Willamette processors. "Absolute fact" if you ignore that AMD has been losing money for quite a while now"

Jee Ten, can I send a copy of that to Joe Osha? Maybe he'll upgrade Intel tomorrow. <G>

Actually I can respond...
1. Celeron has already regained about all the lost market share it can from the K6s. This was more AMDs process blunder than it was Intel Cranking up the MHZ on the Celerons. My real fear is that Celeron is cannibalizing the P-IIIs this quarter.
2. How has Intel responded to Athlon? MHZ sure but delivery of the Coppermines is just starting and the i820s are no where to be found not to mention RAMBO*...too expensive right now. And besides. AMD can only make a little over 1 M Athlons this quarter. Should Intel be all that worried? <G>
3. Merced and Williamette...Too far off the radar screen right now...
Maybe Intel should Intel be scared of the Ebrus 2000? Nope.
4. AMD losing money...well last time I checked, markets look forward not backward.
5. I honestly don't know why all the hoopla about AMD getting the best of Intel. Seems that Intel Flopped all it's own on the Coppermine launch...without AMD...well maybe Intel had to push some things up a bit which leads me to think all this cutting edge technology is very fragile...
