I take back my comment about Dirk myer, He was the lead designer on the Athlon and he did not leave as you suggested.

In the high tech arena, turn overs are high. In the AMD's case they may have been even more due to the lack of performance of the stock.

But to say that they left because they did not think Athlon would be success is silly. Also, Athlon is already a success. It is a superior design and is ramping fast. You got to blind not to see that.
