Gidday, dave, so what do you think of the idea that W-CDMA users might not have to pay royalties to Qualcomm? Mr Fun [I think it was] came up with the proposition that it was STILL unknowable. One can argue that anything is unknowable, but that's stretching the argument TOO thin. You think Q! has the patents and royalties for the cdma2000 clone in the bag? Or might Q! lose the whole kaboodle? Nice to see you still hanging in there. Even Tero must be thinking Q! isn't going to be a total failure. Bill Frezza, who should be brought out for a flogging here, has NOT been right that Q! would end in lawsuits from disaffected shareholders. Though there have been lawsuits from disaffected ex-employees who are ropeable that they have missed out on vast riches from share options. There are not many disaffected shareholders in view. Nokia is clambering onto the CDMA train as fast as possible. The saddest are the companies who are now looking at the Bleeding EDGE technology and wondering what on earth to do, while the CDMA tsunami roars over them. Microsoft is now on the rampage with their billions of $$ with their new focus fully on WWeb [and they DON'T mean GPRS, EDGE and the cdma2000 clone which will pay royalties to Mighty Q!]. Those invested in GSM, GPRS, EDGE and still dreaming of W-CDMA with weird chip rates, synch and stuff will learn that they are deep in it and Paradigm Shift Happens [the new Microsoft Motto].
