we are not trying to figure the value of internet firms. we are trying to figure the value of a server company that has no "protected" position. historically, values for those kind of companies rarely have gotten above 35 times earnings, let alone 80 times.

Don't tell Compaq. I was at a meeting yesterday where a Compaq representative said (I paraphrase) she didn't think e-commerce would go anywhere unless new legislation was passed governing software licensing.
