SIERRA WIRELESS - METRICOM (U.S.).
[Wireless World via Reuters Business Briefing Select · Rcvd: Nov 13, 12:39 PM EST ]

[here is a story I picked up from First Call--I'm posting it here for you guys!] barrister

In another manifestation of its unfolding high-speed wireless data launch strategy, Metricom
Inc. [MCOM] has contracted
with Sierra Wireless Inc. for the supply of wireless modems. Under a one-year deal valued at
more than $30 million, Sierra
Wireless will start making modem deliveries during the first quarter of 2001 or sooner.

Sierra Wireless, a major Canadian vendor of communication systems solutions in wireless
data, also signed a technology
licensing agreement with Metricom. Metricom's subscribers will gain access to "Ricochet2"
service - scheduled to begin
rolling out in U.S. markets next summer - by attaching the modems to their laptop computers.
