Don,

re: your rant

The discussion is getting way beyond my knowledge of SanDisk's technology, too. I think we are adding a bit too much supposition to the mix and it is becoming confusing. Add to this the fact that Invox already had technology for analog recordings that allowed upto 7 discrete voltage levels and opens the possibility for D3 or 3 bit storage per cell hypothetically.

I agree that SanDisk is not a gorilla because the CF standard is open and "non-proprietary", at least for the time being. The pending lawsuit may alter my interpretation of the situation.

Also, there are successful competing technologies including SmartMedia, Memory Stick and the floppy disk. Thus, while enabling, flash memory is not an exclusive solution. Finally, it is unlikely that it will ever totally replace conventional film photography in the near-term.

I think we can have a high-level tech discussion here, but I will refrain from participating due to my lack of expertise in this area.

If Ausdauer and Craig Freeman and a lawyer and the CEO of Lexar were standing in a room, and Aus and Craig had a gun with only one bullet, whom would they shoot? No one. The CEO of Lexar would wrestle the gun from Ausdauer and Craig and shoot himself in the foot.
