Jill, ! If I understand this correctly, GMST does deals with the e-commerce or "t-commerce" companies that use it in order to get customers? I'm not sure if I understand this correctly, but that still seems to be a b2c goal? Mike is right that more and more companies will become hybrids, but since the launch is 2001, until GMST ramps up for that, don't you think it is mainly on the G&K thread? Great questions but I am not sure that I have any clear answers. The manual needs to upgrade the definitions of enabling and applications as more and more hardware becomes software imbedded into silicon. There are single chips now that contain multiple analog and/or digital tuners with additional interactive simulation of and between the receiving, displaying and recording devices. We will hang our TV's on the living room wall in the not too distant future with all intelligence imbedded into a chip the size of a fingernail. Gemstar's strength is in the enabling of such systems but hybrid is best descriptive IMO. The applications are leveraged upon this enabling IP. The Gemstar guide applications are great vehicles for B2C commerce. I will defer to others more capable than myself of determining how or when it should be classified according to the game rules. My apology for this tardy and perhaps unclear response. I am not sure if your are referring to Mike's enabling vs application posts or if your questions are of a Gorilla vs Godzilla nature.
