Westell Inc. Opens DSL Deployments at: www.dsl-modems.com
E-Commerce Solution Provides High-Speed Modems to Users Around the Country

AURORA, Ill., Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Westell Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: WSTL - news), led by its Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) Business Unit, announced today the establishment of its Web Commerce Store, www.dsl-modems.com . The site is designed to facilitate DSL deployments through direct sale of broadband products including Westell's WireSpeed(TM) Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) modems.

At www.dsl-modems.com, users can order Westell products, all of which are interoperable with network equipment using Alcatel Microelectronics' DynaMiTe(TM) ADSL chipsets such as that deployed in the networks of Ameritech, Bell Atlantic, Bell South and SBC.

With next-day shipment, individuals, small businesses and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) can order WireSpeed DSL modems and complementary networking equipment such as Ethernet cards, and microfilters. Prices for WireSpeed modems start at $279, while Ethernet cables, PCI adapters and filters range in price from $7.95 to $24.95.

Westell's WireSpeed products are external modems that share an existing office or home phone line to provide reliable, high-speed, Internet connection at downstream data rates of up to 8 Mbps and upstream data rates of up to 800 Kbps. WireSpeed products are ``plug and play' and enable multiple users to share a single Internet connection as well as dynamically select between multiple service providers or corporate LANs.

``The Westell Web Store complements our strategy to serve end-users and ISP's as well as carriers in support of the roll-out of broadband service.' stated Bill Noll, Westell Chief Technology Officer. ``It is our belief that there will be multiple channels of sale and distribution. www.dsl-modems.com is a perfect vehicle given that our target users are already Internet and e- commerce friendly.'

``The ability for users to easily purchase DSL modems on-line suggests that deployments are truly accelerating,' said Eric Swanson, Senior Product Manager, Remote Access. ``The Westell WireSpeed niche is a user who wants a high degree of reliability, minimal set-up time and the power to allow multiple users to have high speed access through a single modem. Individuals, who are served by Alcatel compatible network equipment in Ameritech, SBC, Bell Atlantic and Bell South regions, can get their modems directly at www.dsl- modems.com.

Westell Inc.'s CPE business unit provides value-added end-points to the broadband network through multiple channels including through carriers, Internet Service Providers and e-commerce.
