DELL and MSFT are still in bed together. Fez ___________________ Monday November 15, 8:15 am Eastern Time Company Press ReleaseDell Demonstrates Windows 2000 Readiness At Comdex Company Teams with Microsoft for Global Sponsors Program ROUND ROCK, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 15, 1999--Dell Computer Corporation (Nasdaq:DELL - news), the world's leading direct computer systems company, is showcasing Microsoft Corp.'s new Windows 2000 operating system on its OptiPlex© desktop PCs, Latitude© notebook PCs and PowerEdge© servers at the Comdex computer tradeshow, which begins today in Las Vegas, Nev. Dell's demonstrations of the new operating system are located in Microsoft's corporate booth number 34. Dell is one of Microsoft's strategic Windows 2000 Global Launch Partners and will feature the new operating system across its client and server product lines when Microsoft formally introduces it in February. ``Windows 2000 continues to be a key component in Dell's ongoing effort to bring the best technology solutions to our customers,' said Carl Everett, senior vice president, Personal Systems Group. ``As a Windows 2000 Global Launch Partner, we're in lock-step with Microsoft to ensure that the development and deployment of Windows 2000 is on track and that Dell products are fully optimized for this next-generation operating system. Our customers will find the relationship between Dell and Microsoft invaluable as they migrate to Windows 2000.' ``Dell's input throughout the development of Windows 2000 has been critical to achieving the operating system's reliability improvements,' said Deborah Willingham, vice president of the Business Enterprise Division at Microsoft. ``Dell's early support and commitment to Windows 2000 readiness will help our joint customers quickly capture the business benefits of Windows 2000.' Through its development collaboration with Microsoft, Dell has identified more validation issues in the beta versions of the operating system than any other PC manufacturer. Hundreds of Dell systems are onsite at Microsoft for development work, and Dell receives nightly downloads of Windows 2000 development builds. Dell also has aggressively launched a number of initiatives as part of its Windows 2000 Premier Migration Program to ease customers' transition to the new operating system. In April, Dell began factory-installing Windows 2000 Beta 3 on its servers, workstations and corporate desktop and notebook PC lines. Dell launched in August a free upgrade program for customers who purchase Windows NT Workstation 4.0 factory-installed on Dell desktop, notebook and workstation products. Current Dell customers who want to assess the readiness of their existing systems for Windows 2000 can access the Dell Windows 2000 Readiness Advisor at www.dell.com/windows2000. This unique Web-based tool uses a system's service tag number to assist customers in determining if their configuration is ready for upgrading to Windows 2000.
