Dan, <Th 810, 820, 840, and profusion chipsets were all developed concurrently, why not a merced chipset that supports rambus?> Just for your info, the 810, 820, and the 840 were all developed in Folsom, CA. That's also where other desktop chipsets like the venerable 440BX were also developed. Profusion was developed by Corollary (I forget whether it was Irvine, CA, or Columbia, SC), which was acquired by Intel. 450NX and 460GX, the big server chipsets, were developed in Aloha, OR, and Dupont, WA. Incidentally, the guys in Irvine and Columbia are now working together with Aloha and Dupont to create the next generation server chipset. <Once it became clear that merced was a year or more away (last fall - when rambus hope and promotion was at its peak) why not add rambus support to the merced chipset?> Various reasons, most of which you need not know until more details about the 460GX are publicly released. Until then, the lack of Rambus support in the 460GX will remain as fodder for the anti-Rambus coalition. Tenchusatsu
