AT&T Announces Two New Digital Internet Phones

PR Newswire, 15 Nov 11:39

AT&T Announces Two New Digital Internet Phones
AT&T Also is Premier Carrier for OmniSky's Wireless Internet and
Email Services for Palm V Users

NEW YORK, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- With consumers and business
people around the world using wireless phones more than computers,
AT&T (NYSE: T) is delivering two new wireless phones that provide
instant access to Internet content, as well as connections to e-mail,
calendars, corporate databases and a wide variety of Internet
informational sites.

The company also is announcing its relationship with OmniSky, which
is introducing a unique service offer to Palm V users that will provide
wireless access to personal e-mail and a host of Internet services.

Along with the new features available on the two digital multi-network
phones, AT&T said it will apply flat rate "all-you-can-use" pricing plan
for data as opposed to the per-minute pricing required by companies
offering similar services over a circuit-switched network. The phones
operate on AT&T's national Wireless IP network.

"As the leader in providing wireless IP services, we continue providing
our customers with affordable, innovative products and services," said
Dan Hesse, President, AT&T Wireless Services. "Combining our
high-quality wireless IP products with the strength of our network also
allows us to bundle popular pricing plans like AT&T Digital One
Rate(SM) and AT&T Group Calling(SM) with data services like AT&T
PocketNet(R) Service."

AT&T set the standard for wireless IP services two years ago by
offering consumers AT&T PocketNet Service on the industry's first
wireless Internet phones. It also was the first to provide customers
with flat rate pricing for these services.

New Services Available on AT&T Wireless Internet Phones
The two new digital multi-network Internet phones -- the Mitsubishi
MobileAccess T250 and the Ericsson R-280LX are equipped with
features that
enable the user to access Internet services quickly and easily:
-- PocketNet Service is based on the latest microbrowser, gateway,
and applications from Phone.Com.
-- Tegic T-9 Text Input enables users to enter text rapidly from the
phone's keypad with just one key press per letter; its linguistic
database checks the keys pressed and adjusts the words on the
screen automatically.

These phones will also support new services offered by AT&T for the
mobile professional:

-- Customers can access their e-mail, contact, and calendar
information residing on a Microsoft Exchange 5.5 server by using the
Revolv Service from Wireless Knowledge.
-- Lotus Mobile Services for Domino 1.0 allows Notes and Domino
users to send and receive messages and access their Domino server
based information. Mobile professionals can access their Lotus Notes
mail, calendar, and address book.

The new phones also have PocketNet informational services that have
been available for the past two years, including real-time information
from ABCNEWS.com, Bloomberg Online, ESPN SportsZone and
InfoSpace.

The Mitsubishi MobileAccess T250 Internet phone, which features a
large, easy-to-read display screen with adjustable fonts, is currently
being trialed with a group of 500 business users.

The MA T250 will be
commercially available to business customers in January. The
Ericsson phone will be delivered in the first quarter 2000 at which time
both products will be available to consumers.

AT&T is premier carrier for OmniSky's Wireless Internet and Email
Services
AT&T also announced that it is teaming up with OmniSky to offer
nationwide Internet and email services to users of the popular Palm V
handheld organizer. AT&T will be the premier carrier of the OmniSky
service via a special public beta program that will run from
mid-December to March 31.

OmniSky is conducting the beta program with AT&T in order to obtain
real-time feedback from users to ensure an exceptional customer
experience. The OmniSky service provides full-featured e-mail from
existing e-mail accounts, real web content with full access to the
Internet and integrated Palm applications that have been enhanced
with new wireless capabilities. For $299, beta users will receive an
OmniSky(TM)Minstrel(TM)V wireless modem and unlimited AT&T
service through March 31, 2000. OmniSky will continue to offer flat rate
pricing when it officially launches the nationwide service in Q1 of 2000.

The beta service is being made available to the first 5,000 Palm V
owners who sign up to participate in the program. Customers
interested in the offer can sign up at the OmniSky website
(www.omnisky.com) or call 800-860-5767.

OmniSky plans to offer the service on a range of other existing and
future IP-enabled wireless devices, including other Palm-based
organizers, Windows CE devices, and WAP (wireless application
protocol)-enabled telephones.
