Surely you are not talking about Best Buy and CompUSA who have been burned to death in the past by over stocking inventory. PC inventories could be increasing because the unit demand is at a higher level than last year.

No way. The exact opposite might happen. Y2K budgets have been hugely overstated (in CYA management land) and there will be visible excess in this budget item towards year-end. Could see a redirect of the excess Y2K funds to year-end hardware purchases.
