Ing Barings starts coverage with a "BUY" recommendation...

RESEARCH ALERT - Mexican telecoms started

MEXICO CITY, Nov 15 (Reuters) - ING Barings on Monday initiated coverage
of Mexican telecommunications group Telmex (NYSE:TMX - news) with a hold
recommendation, saying a recent rise in Telmex share prices made the
stock less attractive.

Meanwhile the brokerage arm of the investment bank began coverage of
Mexican cellular telephone business Iusacell (NYSE:CEL - news) with a
buy rating, calling it ``an attractive, unique pure-play on the Mexican
wireless industry.'

Telmex is Mexico's largest publicly traded company and one of the most
heavily traded foreign stocks on Wall Street.

``Telmex is the best performing stock in the Latin telecom sector -- up
103 percent year to date and now close to its 52-week high,' analyst
Jeannette Baez wrote in a research report. ``Telmex should remain a
defensive play on Latin America and a liquid Mexican market proxy.'

As for Iusacell, Baez said: ``The company is positioned to benefit from
the enormous growth prospects of that sector and could benefit from a
potential consolidation with cellular companies in the north ... as well
as a possible alliance with TISA.'

TISA is a subsidiary of Spanish telecommunications firm Telefonica .
