My only humble point is that there is a very large downside risk playing this game.

RP:TM's sale of NN should not be viewed as a defeat for him
IMHO as ex investor relations Jim Marshall has suggested:

"I think he knows he's lost the game."

in

globeinvestor.com

John Chambers did not admit a loss when it became clear
that CSCO did not have a luminary R&D dept and that it grew
by acquisitions.

You have to be smart:

Selling NN will give TM another chance to fight, on more
equal terms ( more money for R&D, bigger marketing dept. )
with bigger adversaries.
It will just move the battle to a different field; one I think that will be more favorable to NN.
It is up to him to try and craft that. I am certain any
potential buyers would want TM to stay and continue to
run NN and move it to higher ground.
It is important that TM not let his ego cloud

the vision:

Live to fight another day

or

It ain't over till the fat lady sings

We are still light years away from very fat bandwidths,

TA
