Dave, <I wonder how equivalent RDRAM and SDRAM systems both from Dell would differ in price?>

I just did a quick informal comparison, and I found that roughly equivalent 600 MHz systems from Dell would cost $1914 w/ 128 MB SDRAM (Dell Dimension XPS T) and $2166 w/ 128 MB PC700 RDRAM (Dell Dimension XPS B). The only major differences between the two systems are:

- Type of memory (duh)

- Processor: The RDRAM system comes w/ a Coppermine (Pentium III 600EB), while the SDRAM system comes w/ a Katmai (Pentium III 600). The Coppermine performs better than Katmai clock-for-clock.

So the difference is approximately $250. Maybe someone else would like to do a more detailed comparison, but from my informal comparison, the price difference is small.
