Badkarma, My search ended over 20 years ago. When I became a christian (pm me if you want more info), I knew without a doubt my journey ended. I did not go to an altar in church, nor did anyone lead me to Christ. It was a cry from the heart which was answered instantaneously. A month or so later, I was given the Living Bible New Testament and upon reading it, I recognized the one who saved me. How's that for an experience (smile). Anyway, I am one of the least emotionally driven christians you will ever find. I am totally turned off by the "herd mentality". I go to a charismatic church which is considered subdued compared to what you might see throughout these United States. Without mentioning names, well let's just say I don't watch ANY christian television personality. I will give kudos to Charles Stanley however and there are others who know their stuff. Bottom line is I believe the bible. Plain and simple. The hard part is deciphering what "man" has added or deleted in order to make it easier for the reader. Another difficulty is getting away from "me" when trying to understand the Author. Paul who was undoubtedly brilliant and the greatest apostle stated his goal was "That I might know Him..." After all he knew, he still knew he didn't know much at all. I understand your point about christians being emotion based. I have the same problem, even in my church. There are some that think if you even mention another ministry, you are heading towards apostasy. It's sad. The truth is a christian has nothing to fear if he truly puts his trust in the Good Shepherd. He also doesn't have to waste so much time and money travelling to hear this guy or that gal when all the answers are right in front of him.
