Kerr-McGee Announces West Boomvang Discovery in
the Gulf of Mexico

OKLAHOMA CITY, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Kerr-McGee Corp. (NYSE: KMG - news) today announced a gas condensate discovery in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico, on the West Boomvang prospect, East Breaks block 642. The discovery, located in 3,500 feet of water, three miles east of the recently announced North Boomvang discovery well, encountered approximately 66 feet of pay.

Kerr-McGee Oil & Gas Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Kerr-McGee Corp., operates this block with a 30% interest. Partners are Reading & Bates Development Co., a wholly owned subsidiary of R&B Falcon Corp., 50%, and Ocean Energy Inc. (NYSE: OEI - news), 20%. R&B Falcon's semi-submersible rig, the C. Kirk Rhein, drilled the West Boomvang discovery well.
