If you had trimmed off 20 words and split it into 10 different stories I actually might have read it!!!

Just kidding.

I wonder how we learn all of these words?

They don't all appear on grammar school spelling tests.

Does anyone have an explanation of why English has these funny pronunciations or what is the source of these linguistic idiosyncracies?

Are there other languages like this?

Did Latin have this over and above conjugations and gender but no one will ever know?
