( BW)(VA-LITTON-INDUSTRIES-2)(LIT) Litton Provides A Common Information Management System - CIMS - To Seven Canadian Police Services

Business Editors and High-Tech Writers

ARLINGTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 15, 1999--

Will Integrate Technology to Enhance Delivery of Services for all Seven Police Services

PRC, Inc., a subsidiary of Litton Industries (NYSE:LIT), announced today that seven Ontario Police Services have jointly signed contracts with Litton PRC for a Common Information Management System (CIMS) that will be built and implemented within 2 years. These contracts are valued at over $10M (US dollars).
The seven Police Services, all based in Ontario, Canada, include: the Durham Regional Police Service, Halton Regional Police Service, Hamilton-Wentworth Regional Police Service, Niagara Regional Police Service, Peel Regional Police Service, Waterloo Regional Police Service (including their partners in P.R.I.D.E. Services - Guelph, Brantford and Stratford Police Services), and York Regional Police Service; and represent more than ten percent of all law enforcement in Canada.
Based on Litton PRC's innovative and successful automated records and dispatch management system, CIMS will integrate those technology functions that will enhance the delivery of policing services to the public.

When complete, the CIMS system will:

-- Create, store and deliver images of mug shots, fingerprints,
photographs and documents;

-- Allow each police service to tailor the system to its own
particular requirements within configuration parameters;

-- Allow police agencies to share all event-related information with
other police agencies in an index or central data repository,
while restricting access based on levels of security;

-- Provide tools to reduce the amount of time and effort police
officers spend entering reports and preparing court documents and
searching for information;

-- Provide an open communications network so that these seven police
services as well as other local police agencies, Provincial,
Ministries and Federal Ministries can share data;

-- Provide the information to a police mobile unit (laptop); and

-- Provide a system that can add new policing services to the
public.

"We are pleased to be able to extend our technological law enforcement advancements on a worldwide basis," said Leonard M. Pomata, Litton vice president and president of PRC.
