Wanmore- You should check out a copy of Alvin Toffler's 'The Third Wave'. It's been years since I read it, but it offers some logical explanations of recent history.

The 1st wave (the agricultural society) lasted for centuries, and according to the book, ended around the late 18th century to early 19th. The 2nd wave (industrial society) ended in the mid 20th century. The 3rd wave (information society) may have already reached it's peak in the developed world.

I highly recommend reading the book. Written in 1980, it truly describes the past 20 years with stunning accuracy.

Regards,
TW
