Infelicity is a good word. I had a cat named Felicity once. She was a good cat. Those analogies are good, but they weren't written by high school students, they are entries in a contest that the Washington Post used to run on Sunday, a different contest every week. The prize would be things that no one would ever want, a different item every week, donated by readers, who always were acknowledged, can't remember specifics so I am going to improvise here, let's see, a three-foot tall plastic statue of Grover Cleveland, with an opening in the top for dip, and a rim around the bottom for chips. Something like that. I don't believe they run the contest anymore. I know because 1) the addresses are local (Arlington, Fairfax Station, Springfield, Chevy Chase, Landover); 2) I actually remember this one; and 3) Chuck Smith from Woodbridge won, every week. The runners up got T-shirts. I never entered the contest, but I always enjoyed reading the results. And people wonder why I like living here. Zany wonky fun, all the time.
