Michael --

In this space, you can't play catch-up and I believe that's what Oak Industries is doing. In other words, by the time SDL's current contract ends, they'll have superior offerings. Yes, Corning will push Oak ahead but with the industry so strong, SDL believes it will continue to work with them.

Right now SDL has more customers than it can handle. That's a good problem to have and until that changes I won't lose sleep.

Pat

Not sure if this involves SDL, but it does involve LU's WaveStar products:

Lucent Wins Five-Year Contract to Construct Backbone for BT's Global Transport Network

Lucent announced that it had received a letter of award from BT for a five-year agreement to build a 1Tbps optical network in the UK that would form the backbone of BT's next-generation Global Transport Network (GTN). This will provide BT with the capability to carry incoming and outgoing capacity from its UK terminated submarine cable network.

Under the terms of the agreement, Lucent will supply its WaveStar Bandwidth Manager, to support additional ATM, IP and optical switch fabrics over BT?s network. Also included is Lucent's WaveWrapper technology, which provides transparent NMS functions for the optical layer whatever traffic are being carried.
