Hey Jack,

It's been my position that LU is the best choice (if there was one) for a buyer of NOVL. They can position NDS into more carrier networks, ISPs and telcos than anyone else (save CSCO) with a real benefit and gain.

They have a good product mix of Voice and Data and they are very involved with messaging and the internet. I feel that NDS under the direction and marketing of LU could flourish into a de facto standard.

Also it's interesting to note that Novell's Telephony framework could also be a factor in a telco or carrier company buying out NOVL.

There is so much positive to LU buying out NOVL (IMHO) that part of me is holding out for just this scenario. The rest of me is holding out for Novell to get a REAL marketing campaign together.

PS - I had a discussion with a Novell SE who explained that the VP of North America was developing "teams" of sales engineers that will focus on solutions based marketing and sales. This means they are no longer pushing individual products in markets but rather moving to an entire solution based on several products for a specific market (ie, financial, retail etc).

This could be a good factor in boosting Novell's position in the marketplace.
