Mr. Thomas Kennedy reports
Preparations are well under way to ensure that the Millennium Discovery drill program will commence on the Coiron project, Chile, during January, 2000. Rock's geological team consisting of John Kowalchuk, BSc, (director), Christopher Sampson, BSc, P.Eng., (director), and John Ostler, MSc, P.Geo., (consulting geologist), will travel to Chile next week to organize and oversee all necessary on-site preparations to facilitate the drilling. The company anticipates that the final drill contract bids will reach Rock by the end of November, 1999. Once the contract is awarded, Rock will announce specific details of the drilling schedule.
Company president, Thomaas Kennedy, stated: "Given our many achievements in 1999, a strong base in place to make the year 2000 our banner year. Geological mapping, geochemical sampling, preliminary drilling and geophysical surveys conducted over the Mount Tacho hydrothermal system all contribute to Rock's conclusion that this system could host a world-class gold-rich porphyry copper deposit."
The geological and geophysical evidence published to date has caused a total of 10 major North American, European and Asian mining companies to approach Rock Resources with interest in the company's project potential in Chile.
Chile is well-known to be a prolific copper-producing country. Within sight of Rock's project, Anaconda Chile (partly owned by Nippon Mining and Mitsubishi Materials Corporation) is completing a billion-dollar open-pit development of its proven 3.3-billion-tonne Los Pelambres copper porphyry deposit. The 110-kilometre slurry pipeline from the deposit to the newly constructed port facility on the coast is scheduled for use in early 2000. This two- to three-year project demonstrates the current economic viability of world-class deposits in Chile.
A full expropriation lawsuit update news release will be forthcoming by month-end.
