Meriwether cleared to launch new hedge fund - WSJ
NEW YORK, Nov 10 (Reuters) - John Meriwether has been cleared by the 14 financial institutions that bailed out Long-Term Capital Management LP to launch his long-planned new hedge fund, which he hopes to do by year end, the Wall Street Journal said.

One option under consideration for the new fund, JWM Partners, is to buy out the remaining assets of Long-Term Capital, which Meriwether founded, with money raised from new investors, the Journal said, citing an unnamed person familiar with the plans.

Deutsche Bank AG has been helping with fund raising in Europe, the Middle East and Asia, the Journal said.

With the launch of the fund, Meriwether will close the doors on LTCM which was rescued last year by a consortium of 14 banks.
