Death of a Thousand Cuts?

Consensus estimates for next year are drifting down. The company is now saying $1.20 in EPS for 2000 with 5%ish growth in revenues.

To make numbers we need better margins. Gross margin has to tick upward or $1.20 is a no-go. DLJ is fooling with the tax rate to get to $1.20. Taking it down to 33%.

Question for the thread: Is it reasonable to assume that BSX's tax rate will stay at a constant 33% in the outgoing years. Otherwise quality of earnings will be poor and the multiple will not expand.

Cheers,
