I admit I might be too caught up in photography as a hobby, since I've been making my own conventional photos for more than 55 years. On the other hand, I see how popular the Kodak do-it-yourself enlarging facilities are in this area near Rochester. Many area supermarkets have the Kodak equipment that allows individuals to make prints up to 11x14 from color negatives. The appeal is not only in the ability to get an enlargement in about 4 minutes (not including the time it takes to crop, adjust the color, etc.) but the fact that the individual can make the photo the way he wants, rather than accept the preset full frame enlargements most often provided by photofinishers. This tells me that if the technology isn't too complicated, the customer prefers his own judgment to that of the photofinisher when it comes to creating the desired print.
