Maybe Bowie was to rock what Wagner was to opera. I don't think anybody else was so extravagant. And it was quite good. I remember they produced a bunch of smoke and when it cleared there was a catwalk constructed with Bowie looking down at the crowd wearing a Bogart style trenchcoat and hat. It was surprising the speed with which this was done. The crowd was wowed.
