MM- I've been watching this one since CSCO's cheery y2k outlook.

yahoo.cnet.com

First we get this from Nov. 3--

>>>...Investors are concerned that Cisco may be delaying chip orders because of slack sales related to the year 2000 problem. Two months ago, MMC shares had their biggest one-day drop after IBM decided to stop making networking products using MMC's chips.<<<

>>>...Cisco has said that its prospects for the second quarter ending in January are hard to predict because some customers may delay orders as they focus on making their computer systems Y2K compliant. <<<...

Then read this from Nov. 10

cbs.marketwatch.com

>>>...After beating first-quarter earnings expectations on Tuesday, Cisco executives said during a conference call that the company doesn't plan to change its business strategy because of uncertainty surrounding the Y2K. It will be a one-quarter phenomenon, Cisco said. See full story.

"While this announcement does not guarantee the placement of any of the MMC orders that are presently in various stages of completion at Cisco, we believe the fact that Cisco is not anticipating a substantial short-term Y2K slowdown is a positive that makes the placement of these orders more likely," the analyst said in a note to clients...
<<<

Now we're back to the Nov. 3 story.

So what is the "real" story? Who knows?....Optimism and pessimism are wanging back and forth on this one.

IMO the forecast calls for "nuclear winter."

If I was holding MMCN I would believe a damn thing CSCO said. I'd watch the orders.

.29 from .66 cents is a pretty good cut (g). If orders from sickso is so piss poor why is the stock so high. Ugh wait a min. I know why. It's a tech company, I forgot about the new pair of dimes -f-. I just got on line, they had a major wreck out by my ISP and took out a power pole. "Major wreck" is what this high flying market needs but looks
like the street don't expect it.

Mavs' Rookie Hospitalized - (DALLAS) -- The troubles continue for Dallas Mavericks rookie forward Leon Smith. The
Dallas Morning News says the 19-year-old from Chicago was hospitalized Sunday night at Parkland Memorial after taking
an overdose of aspirin. Smith has been on the injured list since last week with a lower back strain.
