Have to disagree there, Andrew. This assumes that you have a better ability to spot undervalued equities than the rest of the market, as otherwise the equities would have been bid up and not remain undervalued any more. Of course, that may be true in your case, but by definition cannot be true for the average investor (who cannot be smarter than the average).

Hence, my study and experience suggests that for the average investor consistently buying and holding market indices are the only way to consistently make money in the stock market over the long run.
