What does IDX have in mind for the "Authenticated Certificate"? It appears to be a software system that plugs the biometric fingerscan into a digital certificate as a digital signature, although the PR does not get into that detail. It will still require desktop hardware, of course.

Since IDX is not about to get into certificate issuance and management, I think it is an open invitation to VRSN to license the product as an option for use in its own digital certificate schemes . . . and this is clearly a good option where a corporate user has the hardware to implement it.

It will be interesting to see if there is any reaction by VRSN to this product -- although VRSN's absence from the PR indicates that there's not been much happening on that front yet.

The convergence of IDX and VRSN technology was an entirely logical development . . . and we predicted it on this thread quite a long time ago.
