While it's true we've learned to do more with limited bandwidth via compression, your first statement would still apply,

Pat, Jim, et al,
Just wanted to come back to our old haunt with our crystal ball gazers. The future promised by DSL is really now only emerging, but today's news of AOL merging with Time-Warner seems like the final realization of that then future tomorrow thought about in '95 as the Amati thread began. Broadband over the internet, and DSL a prime technology allowing that future to occur.

Fortunately we had ample time to position our investments to capitalize on this day.
