Hi, William. Your assessment and hopes are the very ones hoped by every breathing individual walking on the planet. However, the electrical grid is the achilles heel that has ALAN the most worried, by his own admission. And the military frankly is preparing for "it" to not only go down but to stay down for a very long time!!! The CNA has used the 42 SECONDS cascading electrica shutdown which blackened 4 western states January 8 of 1998, (including eastern oregon where I now reside, solar dependant I might add,) as their model for constructing their contingency plans. It is NOT pretty what the branches of the military have planned for the powerless population. And they will be in charge, courtesy of the abrogation of the constitution so that FEMA will be incharge and can thereby mobilize the military against "under the guise of for" the American people. The Canucks and the Mexicans on SI need to understand THEY don't stand a chance being attached at our borders like they are. They need to fend for themselves, but should be forewarned by examples quoted by Terry and others because we have exported our military control ideas, not just our technology in the last oh, 15 months or so. "Dirty, rationed power" is the least of our worries. BTW, Have you ever had your refrigerator/freezer go down and STAY down PRE-y2K because of Dirty power damage? I have. Both were full of inedible meat and groceries within less than 72 hours. It wasn't fun. Surge protectors? How about a boat load of them since they can burn out every time a dirty surge comes through, and that will be dirty power on the telephone, too. Your hope that Chernobyl will somehow hang together is just a bedtime story. You know better. Alan is like any other undisciplined kid who had too much allowance and a rich "uncle." He has damn near single-handledly squandered every cent of printed money on all the wrong things, like fancy space programs, archane derivatives, Bosnian wars, and probably more than his share of Madonna CD's<g>. No wonder the man is bald and shuffling, and making jokes. He can't look at himself and what he's squandered OUR GDP "proceeds" on, the despicable old reprobate!! Glad you are taking cover. Just don't spend precious energy wishing these last 45 days, ok? It just distracts you from your last minute purchases which will make the difference between living and ekeing out an existance shortly. BTW, anyone one here besides William Peavey, taken the time or made the effort to go to the "other side of the tracks" and check out the thrift system and the open air flea markets in this nation so that they can have a foretaste of how THAT eco-system operates? While shocking to the sensibilities and olfactory glands in some cases, it is a rather painless way to get an overview of where goods and services are going to come from shortly. And the dead of winter is not going to be the time to stand around and haggle over a few cents off at the local "ding and dent" tent. O/49r
