It looks like VOD is going into the self-destruct mode. There was no need to turn this into the do or die situation it has become. Things were pretty good as they were and would have been great with the stellar earnings. I figured this would happen. It's a waste of time, and more importantly, a waste of money. Everyone is acting as if the future of cellular depends on Italy and Germany. No way. In a few years, MANY other countries will be experiencing similar if not better wireless penetration. Will VOD be in a great position to exploit this? Not if they give away the farm on this one. Furthermore, in a few years I firmly believe the VOD share independant of Mannesman will be relatively FAR more valuable than it is today. I really hope cooler heads prevail on this one.
