Probably a lot more shorting going on right here today, than there was at 400 yesterday.
It is a great testiment to this stock that the bears did not make much headway. There were two large surges of sell activity and they barely made it to yesterday's low.

I would think the bears are at a psychological advantage, they can short at a very high price, while bulls must counter by buying in at a price they were not willing to spend last week. That often leads to a spiralling plunge as bulls have nothing to lose by protecting their profit. It didn't work today, (at least not yet), this could lead to some amount of short covering. Of course a lot of the action was probably day traders who could reap a tidy sum on these moves.

My position is large enough to keep me interested, but too small to make or break my portfolio, so I make a good audience right now.

<<I assume most short sellers started about $400 and the bulls have perhaps a couple hundred dollars in profits so
each side is fighting fiercely,>>

from a non-technical point of view, what you have here is all the people who couldn't stand to watch this stock go up any further got in yesterday between the 380 to 400 level but were scared s--t when they finally pulled the trigger.
so when the first shot was fired in this fight they went 30-40 pts down, stained their underwear and went running for the hills screaming for their mommies. today you had the people who hung on praying for a comeback and got out everytime it broke 370. the mm's and those of us that still had free cash were gobbling up those shares but not quite all of them thus the small drop.
tomorrow we go higher.
