Scumbria: RE: MIT Education

Like many, I had preconceived ideas about MIT. After having a son spend four years on campus, learning and living with amazing people and incredible opportunities, I have a very different view.

MIT is a meritocracy that values ideas, individuals, and the ability to do things, especially those things that have never been done before.

I have no regrets about my son's decision to attend MIT or the tuition we paid, even though the expense was enormous. MIT was worth the commitment because it provided unparalleled competition and collaboration with great minds, the students and faculty who converge on Cambridge from all corners of the world.

Rice, too, is a great University; I have visited and been impressed.
