Paul - RE: "Re: "Intel has FOUR .18 fabs. AMD has one fab making Athlons. And FLOPPERMINE is quite a bit smaller than the .25 Athlon. So if Intel can only get 2M out Q, it would be pretty pitiful."

Why ?"

Because it is unlike Intel's previous launches.

"Intel didn't release the Coppermine Until October 25 - so they are essentially working on a TWO MONTH quarter for Coppermine shipments."

But they are usually making them quite some time before the processor comes out, right? Do you know how many PIIIs were made in its first Q? Intel had one month then, so FLOPPERMINE shippments should easily outpace the original PIII's.

"Unlike AMD, Intel didn't have 150,000 Coppermines left over from Q3 to ship in Q4."

Yeah, yeah. Intel has the luxury to make their own MBs (when they work properly).

Pengle, "A TWO MONTH Quarter". Paul your a genius for coming up with that explaination. Brightest idea yet to explain Intel sudden chip producing impotence.
