ebaseOne Announces Relationship With Microsoft to Include Microsoft Back Office Products in Its Hosted Solutions
HOUSTON, Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- ebaseOne Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: EBAS - news), an emerging leader in the Application Service Provider (ASP) market for small and medium sized business today announced that it has signed an agreement with Microsoft Corporation (Nasdaq: MSFT - news) which will enable ebaseOne to offer Microsoft Back Office products such as Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Site Server, Microsoft Terminal Server and Windows NT Server as a part of its CorServ(TM) and OneServ(TM) commercial hosting solutions.

ebaseOne's OneServ(TM) is a suite of comprehensive and integrated packaged software solutions such as customer information management and financial management specifically designed for the small and medium sized business market. The full OneServ(TM) solution includes software, installation, customization, training and 24x7 support, all for a flat monthly fee under a 24-month contract. CorServ(TM) is ebaseOne's commercial hosting solution which enables independent software vendors (ISVs) and other third party software application providers to host their applications in a ''Fortune 500'' like data center.

''Being able to include Microsoft products as part of our OneServ(TM) and CorServ(TM) solutions is another important step in the process of quickly becoming the leader in the ASP market for small and medium sized business,'' said Charles Skamser, President and CEO of ebaseOne Corporation. ''Many of our potential customers are already comfortable with Microsoft products and therefore will be pleased to learn that we can now offer them as part of our hosted solutions.''

ebaseOne has also recently formed partnerships with many of the industry's leading technology providers, including Level 3 Communications for telecommunications and data center facilities, Cisco Systems as part of its Cisco Hosted Application Initiative (CHAI), Sun Microsystems as part of its SunTone(TM) Partners Program for ASP's, Marimba for desktop management and Hewlett Packard for application and network management.

''These technology partnerships are all pieces of our ebaseOne technology infrastructure blueprint which will enable us to provide the most sophisticated and state-of-the-art ASP solution in the industry. Our team spent a tremendous amount of time researching the ASP industry, designing a plan and deciding which partners we needed to be successful. We are now in the implementation phase of forming the partnerships, bringing in the technology and understanding how to utilize our relationships with these partners. Quite honestly, I couldn't be more pleased with our progress. After all, how could any ASP not succeed with partners like Level 3, Cisco, Sun Microsystems, Marimba and Microsoft,'' adds Skamser.

ebaseOne's relationship with Microsoft is a significant development for ebaseOne CorServ(TM) customers such as PaperChaser.com, Incorporated. ''ebaseOne's ability to offer Microsoft products as an integral part of its hosted solution is exciting. We are pleased that PaperChaser.com will now be able to offer a complete Microsoft solution to our customers,'' says Brad Jenkins, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for PaperChaser.com, Incorporated. ''As one of the first application vendors to partner with ebaseOne, PaperChaser.com believes that subscription-based offerings will be an increasingly attractive alternative to our customer base which includes law firms and the legal departments of large corporations. We built iPaperChaser.com, our document management portal, on Microsoft products and therefore believe that ebaseOne's new Microsoft Back Office offering represents a compelling solution for our customer base. PaperChaser.com, ebaseOne and Microsoft make a great team.

''Most potential CorServ(TM) customers would agree with PaperChaser.com's assessment of ebaseOne's new Microsoft offering,'' comments John Czapko, Vice President of Commercial Hosting for ebaseOne Corporation. ''This relationship is going to really open up our market.''

ebaseOne's OneServ(TM) packages software solution partners are also excited about this development. ''We believe that our business partners and our customers will find ebaseOne's Microsoft offering a very attractive ASP solution,'' comments Kristi Sprecher, Director of Channel Marketing for SalesLogix Corporation.

Other potential OneServ(TM) partners that ebaseOne is pursuing will also be pleased with this development. ''Many of the potential OneServ(TM) partners and the markets that they service consider Microsoft products to be the standard. Therefore our new Microsoft offering will enable ebaseOne to approach these partners and their markets with a known and trusted technology,'' indicates Craig Dilley, Director of Sales for ebaseOne's Sales Force Automation Business Unit. ''I think that this development will absolutely open up additional revenue opportunities for our OneServ(TM) business unit.''

About the Application Service Provider Industry

The ASP industry has been compared to the Internet Service Provider (ISP) industry in the early 1990's. Its growth is expected to explode within the next three years. According to International Data Corp., corporate spending on high-end outsourced applications, such as ERP and e-commerce, will grow from an estimated $150.4 million this year to $2 billion by 2003, at a compound annual growth rate of 91%. This represents only high-end applications, and does not take into account the majority of software applications currently used by most businesses. According to the Forrester Research packaged applications outsourcing market will grow to $21 billion by 2001.

The ASP industry is growing so quickly because it solves all of the major financial problems typically associated with high-end software applications. For the first time, even small and midsize businesses will be able to afford almost everything they need to streamline their operations, up to the most complex enterprise-wide software applications on the market. ASP software hosting, also called ''software rental,'' allows companies to access applications that are stored on central servers. In the past, companies were forced to purchase one-time software product licenses that were either based on the number of seats or the size of the company. This presented a major problem, especially for small and midsize businesses that have not been able to afford the significant up-front cost required purchasing the software. Companies then had to contract for the necessary professional services to implement those applications, including consulting and training services.
